Jeep's 4x4 Page
Hi, I'm a 1990 Jeep YJ Wrangler.
I've got 31" tires and a 2" body lift. When I came to Texas my doors
came off, and my top has stayed down. The only problem is that I really
seem to be geared too high now that I have the 31" BFG Mud Terrains. I
can barely pull the overdrive 5th gear anymore. I can't
imagine what it would be like if I had 33" tires. What I really need is
at least 4.56 gears and lockers in both differentials, but Goodwrench
has quite a few projects with higher priorities than that.
I was even asked to be in the 4th of July Parade for the town of Lorena, just below us. That was a lot of fun.
Goodwrench really wants to do a spring over axle conversion on me.
He claims that my ride will still be good because I get to keep my
original springs. Any of you folks out there have any experience with
spring over conversions?

11/22/97 Poor Jeep. He sure
isn't getting the attention he deserves lately. With me spending
so much time with Jake and on the computer, not much is happening with
Jeep.
I put the top and doors back on for
winter use. We met a guy bartending at a restaurant the other
night who is going to give us some information on a local Four Wheeling
club.
4/10/98 I got Jeep all cleaned for
the Lorena Texas Police Dept. car show this past weekend. The doors and
complete top are removed. All day Friday was spent detailing and
cleaning. Got third place in the 4 wheel drive class. I met up with the
local Heart of Texas off road club and attended my first meeting this
past Tuesday evening. Today I'll be meeting some of the people to go on
my first Texas off road excursion. So much for all that detailing...

Jeep did win third place in the off road class at the show.
The next Friday we got our first 4-wheeling experience. There is an
area close to the Waco home that has some good trails. Jeep got to run
stream beds and go up and down some almost vertical hills.
After that I decided to install the urethane bushings in the suspension.
3/15/99 I got a new bumper, CB antenna and mount, as well as billit
bushings for my extra mirrors yesterday. It was really pretty cold when
Goodwrench got Micah to help him get started working on me under the
carport.

I'm spending most of time as a farm vehicle right now, but at least I'm pretty useful.
